Its hearty flavor and creamy texture will leave everyone coming back for seconds.
Ingredients
- 6-8 pork loin chops (boneless or bone-in)
- 6 russet potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 2 cans (10 oz each) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- ¾ cup water
- 3 tbsp onion soup base (or 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: Fried onions, for topping
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) to get it ready for baking.
- In a large bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup, evaporated milk, water, onion soup base, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Grease a large casserole dish, then layer the sliced potatoes evenly on the bottom to create a solid base.
- Arrange the pork chops on top of the potatoes, spacing them evenly.
- Pour the creamy mixture evenly over the potatoes and pork chops. Sprinkle fried onions on top for added crunch, if desired.
- Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 2 to 2½ hours. During the last 30 minutes of cooking, uncover the dish to allow the top to turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy the rich and creamy goodness!
Tips & Variations
- For extra flavor, season the pork chops with paprika, garlic powder, or rosemary before layering.
- Add sliced carrots or mushrooms for a complete one-dish meal.
- Substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery for a different flavor profile.
- Make it cheesy by adding shredded cheddar or mozzarella between the potato layers.
