“Thank you for understanding, Dad,” Lisa said bluntly and went to her room. Before striking Edward that terrible blow, she hadn’t thought about all the love and care he had given her over the years, but she ultimately regretted it.

A few days later, while watching a program called “American Heroes” on television, she was surprised to hear the host mention her father’s name. Confused, she continued watching the television when she noticed her father sitting next to the host.

Shortly after, the camera focused on a screen showing images of Edward in a wheelchair and of the hurricane that had struck their town years before.

It turned out that Edward was one of the brave journalists who had managed to save his family and help his neighbors throughout the disaster. Edward had a solemn expression as he recounted how he had managed to help people, especially his family members.

I’ll never forget that day. It was terrible… we lost practically everything,” he explained. “My wife died in an accident, and my daughter was only two years old at the time. As the debris around us fell, I noticed my daughter standing right there… just below where it was falling.”

I went to rescue her and carried her in my arms, but as I ran, a large section of the ceiling cracked and collapsed onto my back, causing a spinal injury that has left me unable to walk again.

Upon hearing this, Lisa’s jaw literally dropped and her tears gushed forth like a spring. “Dad saved me?”

“It was difficult for me,” Edward continued. “But you know, you can’t really escape your destiny. So I mustered my courage, knowing that I simply couldn’t give up on everything, especially since I had a daughter who depended entirely on me.”

At this point, Lisa was very embarrassed by her own actions. She cried after the interview, cursing herself for being a bad girl, and decided to make amends.

On her wedding day, she walked down the aisle alongside Edward, but before the ceremony began, she wanted to say something VERY important to the guests…

As she took the microphone near the altar and approached Edward, who was seated among the guests, she fell to her knees and embraced him. “I know this is one of the most important days of my life, and I’ve been waiting for it for so long!” she said, holding her father’s hands in hers. “But none of this would have been possible if I hadn’t had my father by my side.”

Since Mom passed away, I’ve never once heard my father complain about how difficult it was raising me alone. He had his tough days, but he never showed it. But what did I do? I was about to remove him from the wedding registry because I was embarrassed that he was in a wheelchair. Yes, it’s true!

If I had known that Dad was in a wheelchair because he injured his back saving me, I never would have done that. I was awful to the man who loves me most!

“So I would like to apologize to him in front of everyone here today. I apologize for being the worst daughter to you, Dad,” she said, facing him. “You can hate me for the rest of my life. I’m sorry.”

Edward hadn’t expected Lisa to publicly admit her mistake. He was surprised, but at the same time, he was moved to see his daughter realize her error, so he forgave her.

“Oh, come here,” he exclaimed, kissing her. “Everyone makes mistakes,” he said. “But if you acknowledge them and work to fix them, you should be forgiven.”

All the guests were moved. They gave a thunderous round of applause to this heartwarming reunion.

What can we learn from this story?

Love and respect your parents because they go above and beyond for you. Liza understood this when she heard her father’s story on television and apologized to him for being rude.

Everyone makes mistakes, and if they realize them, they should be forgiven. Edward forgave his daughter when he saw that she felt guilty about what she had done.
