Monterey Sausage Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb pork sausage (mild or spicy, your choice)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 ½ cups (6 oz) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 ½ cups (6 oz) shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 can (4 oz) chopped green chilies, drained
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook sausage & onion: In a skillet, cook sausage and onion over medium heat until sausage is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
- Assemble filling: In a large bowl, combine sausage mixture, cheeses, chilies, and flour. Mix well.
- Add liquid mixture: Stir in evaporated milk, eggs, salt, and pepper until blended.
- Fill pie shell: Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool slightly before serving: Let the pie rest 10 minutes to set before slicing.
Storage Tips
