Curse of the Totem

3/10 stars review ratings🍄‍🟫 Fresh and Educational Theme: Unlike typical Malay horror films centered around predictable tropes (like generic pontianak or saka stories), Sumpahan Jerunei stands out by exploring the historical, ancient burial rituals and mysticism of the Melanau community in Sarawak. Critics appreciated this educational and cultural angle, noting it offers a deeper look into 13th-century heritage. Subpar CGI and VFX: The biggest complaint from netizen reviews targeted the computer-generated imagery (CGI), which many labeled as "hauk" (poor or unpolished).
