Biography
Dudu Tassa is an acclaimed Israeli rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer who has spent decades shaping the country's modern music scene. Born in Tel Aviv to a family of Iraqi-Jewish descent, Tassa began his professional career in the early 1990s, blending contemporary rock and pop-rock aesthetics with deep Middle Eastern musical sensibilities. Beyond his successful solo career—which has yielded numerous chart-topping hits, acclaimed studio albums, and television soundtrack work—he is widely celebrated as the creative force behind Dudu Tassa & the Kuwaitis. In this acclaimed collaborative project, he reimagines and preserves traditional Iraqi and Kuwaiti musical masterpieces originally composed by his grandfather and great-uncle, the legendary Al-Kuwaity brothers, who were prominent musicians in Baghdad and the wider Arab world before immigrating to Israel.
Tassa's innovative cross-cultural sound has also led to major international collaborations, most notably his ongoing partnership with Radiohead guitarist and composer Jonny Greenwood. Together, Tassa and Greenwood have released joint music projects—such as the critically praised album Jarak Qadialak—blending traditional Arabic melodies with modern rock arrangements and touring internationally to bridge cultural boundaries through music.
