Ling Rui’s youngest aunt, Ling Ya Zhi, lost money in an investment and owed $4 million. She confided in Ling Rui. The person who had lent Ya Zhi money to cover her debt was Lu Fang Yu who is Fang Ning’s half-brother. Fang Ning uses the debt as a bait to get Ling Rui to agree to a contract marriage with her. But Ling Rui turns her down. Tang Ping showed up and saw Fang Ning with Ling Rui.

Lu Fang Ning has a stomach bug and Ling Rui takes care of her and realizes there's more to her than the arrogant front she puts on. Later, Ning and Rui meet Lu Yi Yao, he seems to care a lot for Ning and is doubtful of her marriage. He mockingly warns Rui that his marriage failure will have no effect on Ning and that he will forever take care of her.
