Dispatches - 2004

As the Hutton report is published, the actions of the government once again come under minute scrutiny.

In a special investigation, Dispatches reporter Simon Barnes goes undercover inside the Royal Mail to reveal a damning catalogue of skiving workers, ineffective managers and gangs of criminals stealing millions of pounds from the post.

Award-winning Dispatches director David Modell, investigates how public opinion is affecting the Government's policy on asylum by travelling to Lee-on-the-Solent and revealing how this small town in the south of England reacts when threatened with an influx of asylum seekers.

Dispatches investigates whether out-sourcing hospital meals to cook-chill cook-freeze food suppliers means that patients are not always receiving all the nutrients that they need for recovery and investigates whether appropriate standards of hygiene are being met.
