Shane Delia’s Malta - Series 1

Shane Delia arrives in Malta to see how modern Maltese cuisine is grounded in its traditions and history. Starting in the fishing village of Marsaxlokk.

In Valletta, Shane Delia uncovers the legacy left by the British, exploring the Lascaris War Rooms from WW2 and the city's cultural and culinary history.

Shane explores the incredible legacy left by the Knights of Malta-architecturally, culturally and spiritually. From candlelit Easter processions to prison-baked pastries, The Three Cities of Malta are like nowhere else in the world.

Shane Delia explores the legacy left by the period of Arab rule. In the ancient cities of Mdina and Rabat, Shane discovers that the Muslim period left so many influences-from architecture and language.

Shane travels further back in time to discover the incredible legacy left by the Phoenicians, including what is quite possibly Malta's national dish-rabbit.

The series finale takes Shane to Gozo, Malta’s lush agricultural heartland. Known as Malta’s “food bowl,” Gozo demonstrates how the island’s early settlers relied on the land and sea; a philosophy still alive in modern cuisine.
