Under His Command - Season 1

John meets Te Ahi, who lives in hiding after fleeing abuse from her former partner—a member of the Destiny Church’s anti-violence group, ‘Man Up’.

John digs into Destiny Church’s status as a charity; Unpacks the law that governs charities, asks who holds the power to de-register them, and why that process is so rarely used.

John follows the money; investigating how much Destiny receives, and how they receive it. He delves into the practice of tithing, which one former member describes as ‘unrelenting pressure’ to give.

John speaks to two experts on ‘cult-like’ behaviour — and how it affects not just Destiny’s followers, but their wider community too.

John Campbell travels to Brian Tamaki’s ‘City of God’ to investigate. Then, in the final hours of production, John finally receives a response from Destiny Church.
